The French Feed Database is a database operated by the Association Française de Zootechnie that contains information about the quality of the raw materials used in animal feeding.
The database depends on a network of companies and organisations (feed manufacturers, producers of raw materials, R&D institutes and trade organisations). The partner organisations bring their technical data to the database, and particularly the chemical composition and nutritive value of the feed samples analysed in their laboratories. Each year, the French Feed Database collects tens of thousands of analytical or experimental data. Other data are collected directly from the scientific literature.
The data are disseminated through different channels:
- On demand (prices)
- The FeedBase website, a joint realisation of AFZ and Cereopa. Access to this website (for the Database section) is restricted to the partner organisations.
- The io-7 software (prices)
The French Feed Database also offers several services in technical and scientific information management for animal productions.
It participated in several publications and software realisations:
- INRA-AFZ Tables of composition and nutritive value of feed materials
- EvaPig, free software for calculating the nutritive value of ingredients and diets for the growing and adult pig (with INRA and Ajinomoto Eurolysine).
- Amipig, a database of standardised ileal amino acid digestibilities of feed ingredients for pigs (with INRA, Arvalis, Adisseo and Ajinomoto Eurolysine). AmiPig is free to download at Feedbase
- PerfAgro, a software for optimizing the technical, economic and environmental results of farms (with Cereopa).
